Parts iQ is a Chrome browser extension designed for automotive mechanics. This policy explains what data the extension collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

Website content (screenshots)
When you explicitly click "Scan page" or use the "Crop selection" tool, the extension captures a screenshot of the currently visible browser tab. This image is transmitted to the Parts iQ backend for AI-powered analysis to extract part numbers, prices, and delivery times from supplier websites.

Source URL
The URL of the active tab is captured at the moment of scanning and stored as the source reference for the identified part. This allows you to trace which supplier website each part came from.

Session data (stored locally)
The extension stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage: authentication status, selected vehicle or order, parts cart (part name, OEM number, price, delivery time, supplier), and language preference. This data is stored only on your device and is cleared automatically each day.

Screenshots are used solely for AI extraction of part information, processed by the Parts iQ backend. The source URL is stored as a reference link with each captured part. Session data is used to maintain your work session across browser interactions.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the core functionality of the extension.

Screenshots and extracted part data are sent to the Parts iQ platform (app.parts-iq.com), operated by Revido LLC, solely to display and compare parts within your account.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party outside of this approved use.

Screenshots are processed in real time and are not permanently stored by the extension. Local session data is cleared automatically at the end of each day. Parts saved to your Parts iQ account are retained according to your account settings and can be deleted at any time from the platform.

The extension uses the following Chrome permissions:

• activeTab — Captures a screenshot of the current tab upon explicit user action.
• tabs — Reads the URL of the active tab to store as the part source.
• storage — Saves session data locally on your device.
• scripting — Injects the crop-selection overlay on supplier pages when requested by the user.
• sidePanel — Displays the Parts iQ interface alongside the browser.
• Host access to app.parts-iq.com — Required to communicate with the Parts iQ backend API.
• Access to all URLs — Required to inject the crop tool on any supplier website the mechanic visits, since supplier websites vary per user and cannot be predicted in advance.

All communication between the extension and the Parts iQ backend is made over HTTPS. No data is transmitted in plain text.

This extension is intended for professional use by automotive mechanics. It is not directed at children under the age of 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
